Make the best dried fig liqueur at home!

Make the best dried fig liqueur at home!

If you are looking for a delicious drink that you can make at home and that is perfect for after dinner or to enjoy with dessert, homemade dried fig liqueur will become your favourite.

This sweet and full-bodied drink will please everyone, and when you have guests, you can even show it off, because you'll have made it yourself ;)

And the best thing is that it only takes 5 ingredients and is surprisingly easy to make. Here's what you need and how to make it. Let's get started!

Ingredients

  • 750gr dried figs El Pajarero
  • 1 litre of neutral Vodka
  • 300gr sugar
  • 150gr water
  • 1 vanilla pod

Preparation

  • How to prepare the perfect fig liqueur

  • First things first: start by cleaning the dried figs El Pajarero

  • Put them in a container large enough to fit comfortably - at least 1.5 litres should be enough - and add the litre of vodka.

  • Now it's time to make a syrup with the sugar and water. While there are many ways to prepare it, and you can do it however you like, the important thing is to get a full-bodied syrup.

  • Once you have it, when it is lukewarm, pour it into the bowl with the figs and vodka.

  • Close the lid tightly and stir vigorously.

  • Find a cool, dry, dark place to keep it for a month - be sure to stir it once a day during that time!

  •  Once the month is up, you can filter out any sediment left in the liquor with a fine sieve. Or just leave a little sediment if you want an even more intense flavour.

As the days go by, the flavour will become more concentrated and you will notice that every time you open the container, an amazing aroma will be released, filling your room with that sweet, fruity fragrance.

Once filtered, store your homemade liqueur in pretty bottles and enjoy it whenever you feel like it.

Making homemade fig liqueur is as simple as it is rewarding! You see, all you need are quality dried figs from El Pajarero, water and three other ingredients. Perhaps the hardest part of all will be cultivating patience for a month. The good news is that it's so delicious, it's worth the wait.
