Delicious biscuits made of dried figs and wholemeal flour with no added sugar!

Do you love to enjoy a tasty biscuit with a cup of tea or coffee? Today we bring you a special biscuit recipe with a healthy and natural twist: biscuits with dried figs and wholemeal flour. These biscuits are ideal to combine with Greek yoghurt and you'll be surprised how sweet and delicious they are without the need for extra sugar - get ready for a unique and nutritious treat!

These biscuits are not only irresistible, but also nutritious and super easy to prepare. Don't you want to try them?

Why did we choose dried figs and wholemeal flour for our biscuits? First of all, figs are a very good source of fibre, which will help you feel full and keep your blood sugar levels in check. Also, dried figs are very sweet and instead of adding sugar, they add natural flavour and a touch of texture.

On the other hand, wholemeal flour is a healthier option than refined flour as it contains more nutrients and fibre. By using it in this recipe, you ensure that your biscuits are more nutritious and don't affect your blood sugar levels as much. Best of all, the taste and texture of the biscuits are not affected.

- 1 and 1/2 cups El Pajarero dried figs, chopped into small pieces

- 1 cup whole wheat flour

- 1/2 cup melted butter

- 2 eggs

- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

- 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

- Pinch of salt

Steps to follow

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, mix together the wholemeal flour, bicarbonate of soda and pinch of salt. Make sure they are well integrated.

3. Add the melted butter, eggs and vanilla essence to the flour mixture. Mix well until you obtain a homogeneous dough.

4. Add one cup of chopped dried figs to the batter and mix again to distribute evenly. Reserve the other half cup.

5. Form balls of dough and place them on a baking sheet covered with waxed paper, making sure to spread them a little apart to prevent sticking. Then gently press each ball and decorate with dried fig pieces.

6. Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for approximately 12-15 minutes, or until lightly browned on the edges.

7. Remove from the oven and allow the biscuits to cool completely on the tray before transferring to a cooling rack.

These biscuits are not only great with a cup of coffee or tea, they are also perfect to take with you on the go, to enjoy after the gym, to share with your kids as a snack or to combine with yoghurt for breakfast. You can adjust the amount of dried figs and add other ingredients such as cinnamon, lemon zest or ginger to give them a unique twist.

Dried fig and wholemeal flour biscuits with no added sugar are a healthy and delicious option for those who are looking to take care of their diet and pamper themselves at the same time. With this recipe you can be sure that any temptation to eat something sweet and unhealthy will be forgotten.

Be creative and experiment with flavours and textures! Get ready to surprise your loved ones and enjoy these delicious biscuits at any time of the day.
