Solidarity Higos El Pajarero

At Higos El Pajarero, we are aware of the importance of supporting our community and contributing to charitable causes. That is why we are proud to announce our collaboration with several charities that work to improve the lives of people around the world.

The associations and entities with which we collaborate are

  • Babies Uganda
  • United Firefighters Without Borders
  • Vaccination programmes of the La Caixa Foundation
  • Red Cross Spain
  • Aldeas Infantiles
  • Refugees from Ukraine (La Caixa)

Babies Uganda

A non-profit organisation that works to improve the health and well-being of mothers and babies in Uganda. The organisation provides antenatal, delivery and postnatal care services, as well as education and training programmes for mothers. We are proud to support Babies Uganda in its mission to improve maternal and child health and reduce infant mortality in this African country.

You can read more about this institution here.

Bomberos Unidos sin fronteras

BUSF

Another institution that we support is Bomberos Unidos sin fronteras, a Latin American Non-Governmental Organisation, made up of firefighters, health workers and professionals from different fields specialised in the immediate response to major emergencies and natural disasters and in cooperation projects for sustainable development.

Here you can see the work they carry out.

Vaccines

La Caixa Foundation

This organisation works to improve global health through child vaccination. The organisation provides vaccines to children in developing countries to protect them against deadly diseases. We are proud to support the La Caixa Foundation in its mission to improve global health through vaccination.

La Caixa has become the first private partner of GAVI (the vaccine Alliance in Europe) and together they form a great alliance.

Red Cross Spain

Red Cross

We also support the Spanish Red Cross, a humanitarian organisation that provides assistance and aid in emergency situations in accidents, earthquakes, wars, terrorist attacks and all kinds of disasters and humanitarian catastrophes.

We echo its values: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, unity and so on.

Its field of action is not limited to Spain and, within the international organisation, it carries out work in other parts of the world where it is needed.

Aldeas infantiles

Aldeas Infantiles

Aldeas Infantiles is a non-profit organisation that works to improve the lives of children and families in vulnerable situations in Spain and around the world.

It provides a home and a family for those children who cannot live with their parents. It strengthens vulnerable families to prevent parents and children from having to separate. It also accompanies young people in need until they are fully integrated into society and the workplace.

Get to know them better.

Refugees in the Ukraine

Solidarity aid for refugees in the Ukraine through La Caixa

Due to the humanitarian emergency caused by the conflict in Ukraine, La Caixa Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, has set up a service to connect host families with refugee families in different parts of the country in the provinces of Alicante, Barcelona, Girona, Madrid, Malaga and Murcia.

If you are interested in finding out how it works, here you will find more information.

At Higos El Pajarero, we are committed to improving people's lives. We are grateful to be able to contribute to these organisations that do so much good in our community and in the world. We encourage you to learn more about them and consider getting involved. Together we can make a difference.

Thank you!

This delicacy of dried figs stuffed with goat's cheese and wrapped in bacon will awaken all your senses.

The cheese melts into the figs for a melt-in-your-mouth creaminess. And the bacon gives it an unbeatable crunchy texture.

In addition to being a quick and easy recipe, its sweet and sour flavour allows it to pair perfectly with other dishes.

We suggest that you serve it with a base of lamb's lettuce, some cherry tomatoes, small pieces of avocado and season it with extra virgin olive oil and a dash of Modena vinegar.

If you prefer, you can also add a sauce of your choice.

Ingredients for two person

  1. 16 El Pajarero dried figs
  2. 16 pieces of goat cheese
  3. 16 slices of smoked bacon
  4. Lamb's lettuce for the base (quantity of your choice)
  5. 12 cherry tomatoes
  6. 1 diced avocado
  7. Modena vinegar
  8. Extra virgin olive oil
  9. Pepper
  10. Salt

Preparation

  1. First of all, prepare a baking dish. You can put parchment paper on it, which will serve as a base for our figs. Turn the oven on and set it at a low temperature, for example 170 degrees.

  2. Once the dish is ready, remove the stalks from the dried figs.

  3. Make a cross cut in each fig without separating it. The cut must be large enough to allow us to insert the piece of goat's cheese. This piece does not have to be small, it is advisable to leave a part inside the fig and the other part protruding from it.

  4. Next, wrap each dried fig with a slice of smoked bacon. If you see that it does not hold, you can help yourself with a toothpick to close it.

  5. Here we would like to make a clarification, because El Pajarero figs are small, it is possible that half a slice of bacon will be enough. However, if you really like bacon, you can use a whole slice for each fig :)

  6. Arrange each fig on the previously prepared dish.

  7. Once you have them all ready, bake them in the oven for about 8 minutes (depending on the oven).

  8. The important thing is that you see that the cheese is melted and the bacon is squeaking :)

While they are baking, if you have decided to pair them with a sauce, this is the moment to prepare it. We recommend a mango, sherry or red berry sauce. If you don't have time to prepare a sauce, and you prefer to use one you already have, an old mustard or Dijon sauce works very well.

Before plating, place a base of lamb's lettuce, the cherry tomatoes, the avocado pieces and the amount of figs you want to eat on top. It's up to you :)

Now it's time to season it with the sauce or simply with olive oil, Modena vinegar, a pinch of salt and pepper. And voilà!

We hope you like this tasty recipe. As you can see, it is easy and quick to prepare.

We advise you to always have a bag of El Pajarero Dried Figs on hand, as the possibilities of sweet and savoury dishes you can prepare are incredible. Take a look at our other recipes and let us know :)

Enjoy!
